What a colourful and contemporary livery this is for the second release on the new Irizar i6. West Coast Motors who operate essentially along the west coast of Scotland have been a family concern since the early 1920s and have remained throughout at their Campbeltown base. From humble beginnings when founder Jack Craig successfully begged to deliver the mail to Glasgow by road rather than Royal Mail transporting by ship, the company now employs over 400 people and runs around 220 coaches. Along the way - and deploying a wealth of well-known bus types - the Craig family have absorbed other coach and bus companies into the business to widen their field of operations. Most recent has been Border Buses in 2017, enabling the company to encompass routes across the Scottish Borders as far as Carlisle, as well as over to Edinburgh.
Their modern livery takes on board the blue and white stripes of Border Buses which sweep down the sides of the coach, alongside their familiar red and ivory colour scheme. Beneath the company name along the coach sides, note their slogan printed in orange 'Bringing People Together since 1923'.The internal seating is bright red and both the dashboard and the flooring are moulded in dark grey. Registered YT15 AWF, our single deck coach is travelling as the 926 back to Campbeltown, taking in the scenic Argyll coastline en route.
